About LSFA – The Liverpool Schools Football Association (LSFA) has a rich history dating back to 1887, established by a group of schoolmasters from the National Union of Teachers. They organized football, swimming, and cricket for city scholars, securing playing fields in public parks. The first football league trophy was presented in 1893, with the Catholic schools’ football competitions starting in 1900. Liverpool Schoolboys played their first inter-town game in 1894. Many alumni have achieved professional success in sports. The LSFA has won numerous national titles across different age groups, with notable achievements including the Under 15’s winning the English trophy a record 19 times. Initially playing at “Penny Lane,” they moved to the “City of Liverpool Soccer Centre” in 1999. For a detailed history, Tim Johnson’s book “They Used to Play at Penny Lane” is recommended.
